Freeloader Makes Music
Music to be heard.
It’s all about throwing something into your favourite device (sounds rather devious) and listening to something that you may want to hear again. At the end of the day; the listener is a partner. Your feedback is always welcome as continuous improvement is important to the FREELOADER PROJECT. An lot of folks have contributed to this adventure and we plan to continue to enlist and recruit talented people that care about honest music. Don’t forget to check out our “unfinished song” contest and “official video submissions” for an opportunity to become a FREELOADER! Second album called FREELOADER is in the works and just a reminder to check out our “Stuff” page for some cool stuff for guys and gals and also the complete first CD – RECLAIMED, which contains 2 full length bonus tracks!

Philosophy
“At the end of the day, the listener is the boss and my job is to make them want to listen.”

Karen a.k.a Hellgirl
Singer and Songwriter
Born in Toronto and apparently raised by wolves somewhere near the Danforth, Karen’s Hungarian background is likely to blame for her musical slant. She started working on the Freeloader Project in 2008 with the first recordings performed at Metalworks in Mississauga, Ontario.
Karen has written the lyrics for the songs “Bite Me”, as well as performed an alternate version of the song and rapped on “Nev’r is Forev’r”.
She is also the President of Design Evolution specializing in home renovations, design, staging and customized wrought iron art.
She resides in a converted horse farm in Erin, ON. continuing to compose and perform.

Perry Piroutz
Song Writer and Musician
Perry Piroutz is a twenty year old songwriter and musician currently studying at the University of Guelph. His eclectic influences vary from the prose poetry of Baudelaire to the free jazz of Peter Brötzmann. His melodies are akin to a spirit receiver pranging out under orange horizons – speckled underneath is the verse of illumination – of a soapy eye’d skellum howling on the dance floor – under-toned by electricity – reverse flames and synthesized sounds. His songs trace a molten vision of wonderment in the open air. Join this musical moonlighter on his quest for artistic fulfillment.
Started working on the Freeloader Project in 2008 with the first recordings performed at Metalworks in Mississauga, Ontario.

Natasha Pearl Eli-Jean Piroutz
Singer and Songwriter
This teenage singer/songwriter wrote her first song at age 6 and continues composing and singing and also plays a mean axe.
Born in downtown Toronto and now living in the country, her love for music is rivaled only by her love of equestrian show jumping. Displaying equal amounts of talent in both disciplines, her dream is to win Olympic gold as part of the Canadian Equestrian Team and be able to perform a stirring version of the National Anthem to boot.

Brian Hewson
Owner of Escarpment Sound Studios
Owner of Escarpment Sound Studios in Erin, On. Along with being the head engineer, Brian also produces and is an accomplished guitarist, recently co-producing and performing on Freeloader’s “RECLAIMED” album.
Brian has been in the sound and recording industry for over twenty nine years. In the 70′s he was a bass player, then guitar player in many local bands. He had a keen interest in music and equipment so in 1977 he enrolled in the Media Arts program at Sheridan College in Oakville Ontario to study recording & film. During the 3 year program he had the opportunity to complete several recordings and worked with some up and coming stars such as Rick Santers and Platinum Blonde.
After graduation he began working at Soundpath Productions in Oakville; first as an assistant, then as an engineer. It was here that he worked on some great projects such as Triumphs “Stages” album, the Spoons “Listen to the City” album, demos by Lee Aaron, Tim Thorney, Joel Feeney and Lisa Dalbello to name a few, as well as hundreds of commercials and film soundtracks.
While still at Soundpath he began teaching part time at Sheridan College teaching the 3rd year Audio and Recording course, a position which he held for 14 years. During this time he was doing freelance engineering with artists like The Mercy Brothers, Jeff Bird and Double Exposure. Also during this time he held a job doing live sound at a club on Queen Street in Toronto. In 1986, Brian built a small but efficient studio in Acton, On. giving it the name “Escarpment Sound Studio” based on the majestic Niagara Escarpment which dominates the landscape.
For five years he worked out of this small but productive 16 track studio doing demos, commercials and albums including 3 “Stompin Tom Connors” projects. In 1990 he purchased a 23 acre farm north of Acton that had a stone foundation he knew would be perfect for the larger studio that he wanted to build.
Work was completed in 1991 and the new “Escarpment Sound Studio” was born. This is where Brian now works full time doing all kinds of recording, producing, guitar playing and running the studio. After renovating the farmhouse on the property, Brian moved in to the home where he now lives with his wife Barb and his daughter Hannah. Last year he taught classes at the Metal Works Institute and currently has classes at Escarpment Sound.
